In the heart of every manufacturing plant, data center, and oil refinery lies a network of high-voltage equipment that must be protected at all costs. Finally, the trend toward electric vehicles (EVs) is creating a new frontier. EV charging stations require ground fault protection to prevent shocks in wet parking lots. The power protection relay market is developing compact, solid-state relays that fit inside charging pedestals and communicate with the central management system via OCPP (Open Charge Point Protocol). As charging speeds increase to 350kW and beyond, the fault currents become massive, requiring relays with high-breaking capacity. For facility managers, the lesson is clear: skimping on protection is false economy.
