The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has had a catastrophic impact on various sectors, prominently affecting the creative community. With the suspension of nearly all television and film production worldwide, countless individuals in the industry, including electricians, drivers, makeup artists, and carpenters, find themselves without work. In recognition of the support that this community has provided Netflix during more prosperous times, we are committed to assisting them through these challenging circumstances, particularly as governmental support systems are still developing. To address this, we have established a $150 million fund aimed specifically at alleviating financial distress among creative workers.

The majority of this financial support will be directed towards those in our productions who have been the most adversely affected globally. We are presently evaluating the specific assistance required on a case-by-case basis for each production. This initiative builds on our previous commitment to provide two weeks of pay to cast and crew impacted by the recent suspension of our productions.

In addition to supporting our own productions, we aim to extend our assistance to the overarching film and television industry. To this end, $30 million of the fund will be allocated to third-party organizations and nonprofits that are delivering emergency support to unemployed crew members and actors across the regions where we operate a significant number of productions.

In the U.S. and Canada, there are existing nonprofits set up to handle such needs. We plan to contribute $1 million each to several organizations, including the SAG-AFTRA Foundation COVID-19 Disaster Fund, the Motion Picture and Television Fund, and the Actors Fund Emergency Assistance in the U.S., as well as a cumulative $1 million to the AFC and Fondation des Artistes in Canada. For other regions such as Europe, Latin America, and Asia, where we maintain a substantial production presence, we are collaborating with relevant industry bodies to establish similar emergency relief initiatives for the creative community.
